About

Cyndi Guzman

Cynthia Guzman, IBCLC, is President of The Art of Breastfeeding, a board certified Lactation Consultant, and a certified Quantum Touch Practitioner. Her personal and professional journeys have led her to develop her gifts and skills in a special way, allowing her to support women physically, spiritually and emotionally as they journey into motherhood.

During her eight years as a stay-at-home mom to her two children, Cynthia began supporting other breastfeeding mothers by becoming an accredited La Leche League Leader. As a leader, she led a Chicago area La Leche group for 10 years and served as a professional liaison to health care professionals in the Chicago area. During that time she expanded her training, earning her certification as a Lactation Consultant in 2001. Cynthia has worked with The Art of Breastfeeding since 2000, impacting countless women through her work over the years.

Cynthia’s work in supporting new mothers has expanded as the years have passed. She has a strong interest in alternative healing, and has studied extensively in the areas of nutrition, medicinal herbs, homeopathy, and the use of Bach Flower Remedies and essential oils. In addition, she has studied Star Medicine, the blending of different energy healing methods of the Native American culture.

As a Quantum Touch Practitioner and intuitive energy healer, Cynthia uses her shamanic and healing gifts to work with women and their families on emotional and spiritual levels by providing energy and spirit readings which clear the way for healing to occur. Her knowledge and skills in alternative healing enhance her lactation training and experience and as a result, the guidance that Cynthia provides women through pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and mothering is truly unique.

Peggy Healy

Peggy Healy, M.S., IBCLC, has worked with the Art of Breastfeeding both as a student of lactation and as an IBCLC. After completing a Masters degree in Counseling in 1981, Peggy worked in higher education for several years, and then left the workplace in order to stay at home and raise her five children.

After 18 years as a stay-at-home mom, Peggy began looking for a way to combine her education with her life skills, seeking a profession that would be worthwhile and make a difference in peoples’ lives. She began working as a Postpartum Doula, earning her certifications from both Doulas of North America (DONA) and Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association (CAPPA). She continued her work as a Postpartum Doula while completing the requirements to become a board certified Lactation Consultant.

Peggy successfully completed the requirements necessary to sit for the International Board of Lactation Consultants’ Examiners exam in July of 2005, and has been working in private practice as an IBCLC with the Art of Breastfeeding ever since. In addition to her work with The Art of Breastfeeding, she is pursuing a Masters in Social Work degree.

A strong background in counseling combined with her lactation training and experience allows Peggy to support clients both physically and emotionally as they begin the journey into motherhood.
